It is our first Salsa Festival at La Grande Farmers Market!

We hope you can join us Saturday, September 16th for some salsa music, we hope you can dance the Salsa, and we hope you can enter our salsa contest!!    Rules below - Good times will be had by all!

SALSA CONTEST!!

 

SALSA TASTING 9:00-11:00

ANNOUNCEMENT OF WINNER AT 11:30

WHERE: Max Square, at La Grande Farmers Market

WHEN: Entries will be accepted between 8:00 and 9:00

HOW:

  • Bring 1 quart of your salsa in a sealable container such as a ball or mason jar or a “Zip lock” type container with sealable lid.

  • Samples of salsa will be tasted and judged, therefore for food safety reasons, all salsa must be made fresh on the day of competition All entries will be kept on ice until judging time

  • Limit of 2 salsa entries per contestant, please.

  • Judging runs from 9:00- 11:00.  Winners announced at 11:30.

  • We will have 2 winners!  Judges choice and people’s choice: the salsa with the most votes wins!

  • To judge, folks will pay $2 for a bowl of chips and a voting card.

  • NO DOUBLE DIPPING!

  • Collect your belongings between noon and 1:00pm.

  • Winners will receive a $50 farmers market gift certificate + a market hat!

Opening day 2017

The Farmers Market opens for the season on May 20th!

We will be open every Saturday 9am - noon and every Tuesday 3:30 -6:00pm through October 21st.  

We will be continuing our Double Up Food Bucks program for SNAP customers at the market this year - which means we will match what you spend at the market on your EBT card up to $10 every time you come to the market.  Swipe $10 off your card and get $20 to spend at the market!

We have so many incredible sponsors this year; please take a moment and look at that list on the right;  This is an amazing community; please support these businesses that value our market.

Other good news; thanks to one amazing sponsor - (Thank you Loveland Funeral Chapel!) - we will be able to have music at all of our Tuesday markets this season!

ANNUAL MEETING 2017

Save the date for the vendor annual meeting Thursday, March 2nd at 6:30, in the Community Room at the La Grande Public Library.

All vendors are asked to come to elect the board, pay & sign up for spots, learn from our presenters, find out what's happening in 2017, ask questions, and have fun!

Any folks that are interested in becoming a vendor are also invited to come check it out, meet other vendors, ask questions and have fun!

Al Sweet, from the ODA Department of Weighs and Measurements will be on hand to certify your scales, beginning at 6:00.

Snack potluck. Drinks provided.

Good News!  The La Grande Farmers' Market is part of a state-wide program called Double Up Food Bucks.

Now, every time you spend your SNAP dollars at the Farmers Market, we will match up to $10 a day with Double Up Food Bucks for fruits and vegetables!  You can come both on Saturdays AND Tuesdays to take advantage of this great opportunity!

Welcome to La Grande Farmers' Market 2015!!

Welcome to the new website for La Grande Farmers' Market!  I am very pleased about the changes we have made this year, and I hope you will be too.   Let me tell you about our cool new features.

First of all, I have to thank a very dear Friend of the Market, Gray McGuire.  Gray has donated many hours towards creating this website, and he has been a constant source of good advice.  Thank you Gray!!

Now, I am very pleased to announce that we are using a new software this year called "Manage My Market."  All the Portland Farmers' Markets use it; it is a great tool for organizing information.  Now vendors will be able to apply completely online!  They can create a profile for their business that can be viewed by customers of the market.  They will be able to enter all their products and dates of availability, and customers will be able to search our market database for the products they wish to buy.  Anyone who is interested in becoming a vendor at our market, just check out the "APPLY" tab above and follow the steps that are described there.  Another bonus for vendors; you won't have to apply year after year - you'll only have to enter your information once.

Soon we will have also an interactive map of the market, so that customers can see where vendors are selling on any market day!

For those of you who might be interested in being a band at our market, our music policy is on the website under the MUSIC tab.  There are many opportunities for local musicians to get on our stage!
